Christian Louboutin Scarabee I

Yes, you read the title correctly. I have in my grubby little hands an extremely seductive bottle of Christian Louboutin's limited edition Scarabee I polish.

This polish was a gift from the incredibly awesome @onecoatwonder in a polish swap we were both a part of. I actually got it in the mail yesterday but I was so stunned I couldn't find words to blog with!

Here's the description from the Louboutin website:

Let me say I did scoff a bit at the "20 layers of traditional polish" part, but I will say that it was dead on being a two coater. Usually duochromes are a bit sheer and some even require an undie. Not this one. Two easy coats is all that's needed. Anymore than two and you'd be wasting this beautiful polish.

The formula is top notch, as you'd expect from a fifty dollar bottle of nail polish, but the best part is that the brush, like it states in the description, picks up the perfect amount of polish. There's no wiping the brush a hundred times on the side of the bottle or sitting there waiting for that one extra drop off polish to roll off the brush before painting.

This swatch is two coats with no top coat. Look at how stunning the color shift is. I wasn't even trying when I took this picture. All I did was stick my hand in the lightbox and bam there it is. This polish shifts from a pinky, rose gold color to a metallic-y golden yellow. There's a subtle shimmery undertone that really adds to the depth. I wish I could describe it better, but they say a picture is worth a thousand words so I'll let the macro do the talking.

Even though this polish is amazing and stands on its own, I wanted to play with the other goodies I got in my swap package: some Bundle Monster plates.

I stamped some koi fish using BM-725, M Polish Apricot Delight, Funky Fingers Dark Night and my good ol' FabUrNails stamper.

I stamped another accent nail using BM-716 and M Polish Apple Blossom.

So the moral of this story is that if you have plenty of disposable income and can drop $50 on a bottle of nail polish, you need this one. Hell, even if you don't have that kind of spending money, you still need this polish; your kids can go without eating a few days, don't worry about it. (I'm kidding please feed your kids. But don't feed them Louboutin nail polish.) The hype behind this one is justified in this case and if I ever find myself burdened by large amounts of money that needs spending, the first thing I'm doing is buying a few more Louboutins.

Here's some bonus nail porn shots that show off the oh-so-sexy bottle while really highlighting how much I need to iron my lightbox backdrop.
